Senior Engineering Manager
Senior Engineering Manager
Lead the teams building the governed knowledge layer for enterprise AI.
Paligo is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead two product teams: the CCMS that hundreds of enterprise customers depend on today, and a newly formed team building our AI-native product for enterprise content governance. One mature, one greenfield — and you'll hold both.
This is a hybrid position based out of our Stockholm office. Candidates must currently reside in Sweden and hold the legal right to work there. We are unable to sponsor work visas or offer relocation for this role.
About Paligo
Paligo is an industry-leading SaaS company in the Component Content Management Systems (CCMS) space. Global teams at Amazon, Allianz, Mitsubishi, and the European Commission use our platform to create, manage, publish, and translate technical content. We're profitable, growing, and now building the next layer of the business on top of that foundation, a governed knowledge layer that lets organizations ground their enterprise AI in content they can actually trust.
About the role
Paligo is at a defining moment: we're evolving from a best-in-class CCMS into an AI content intelligence platform. This role sits right at the center of that.
Your job is to create an environment where engineers do their best work, where trust is high, expectations are clear, and people feel genuinely empowered to take ownership. You'll do that across two very different mandates:
Paligo CCMS — the core product. A sophisticated authoring and publishing system used by technical writing teams worldwide. Here the mandate is operational excellence and thoughtful evolution: keep it performing for the customers who rely on it, drive a steady improvement roadmap, and sustain the engineering culture that keeps a mature system reliable and maintainable.
The AI-native product. A new product that reimagines the content lifecycle for the AI era. Where the CCMS serves technical writers, this one targets organizations that need to govern and validate the content feeding their AI systems. It's AI-native from the ground up: agents do the heavy lifting of ingestion, tagging, and transformation, while human decision-makers judge what meets the trust standard for the knowledge graph. You'll help build this team from early stages, shape its engineering culture, and be a real technical partner in turning a bold vision into a working system.
You'll bring a strong technical background — contributing through code, architecture, and review, and serving as a grounded technical voice in product and design conversations. You'll also lead how we adopt AI-assisted development: agent-assisted coding, AI SDLC tooling, and the practical work of figuring out what good engineering looks like when autonomous agents are part of the daily workflow. Budget and resourcing decisions are made in close partnership with the CTO.
This is a leadership role for someone who cares as much about people as about craft, and finds meaning in both.
What you'll do
Attract, develop, and retain talented engineers who want to do meaningful work at a company that's genuinely evolving.
Contribute hands-on through coding, architecture discussions, and code review — staying close enough to the work that your guidance is grounded and your team feels supported.
Bring a clear technical perspective to product and design conversations, helping teams decide with confidence.
Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development practices: agent-assisted coding workflows, AI SDLC tooling, and thoughtful integration of autonomous agents into how the team works.
Coach and develop engineers through regular 1-1s, honest feedback, and growth plans that reflect what each person actually wants.
Drive technical excellence on the CCMS — performance, reliability, and clean evolution without disrupting the customers who depend on it.
Build the new product team from the ground up: hiring, onboarding, and establishing the engineering foundations it needs to thrive.
Own the delivery process, and keep evolving how we work to suit a team where AI agents are part of the workflow.
What we're looking for
We know strong candidates don't always tick every box. If this role excites you and you bring most of what's below, we'd encourage you to apply.
Required
7+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of leading and growing engineering teams.
Practical experience with AI-assisted development — using LLMs in engineering workflows, building AI-integrated products, or working out what the AI SDLC looks like in practice.
Deep familiarity with modern web stacks, backend development, and cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS).
Comfort working directly in the codebase alongside the teams you lead.
The ability to navigate ambiguity — holding steady on a greenfield product and a mature product at the same time.
A track record of raising engineering standards: quality, testing, documentation, deployment practices.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Professional fluency in English.
Nice to have
Experience with TypeScript and/or PHP.
Experience building products where AI agents do meaningful work in production, not just in demos.
Experience in a fast-paced company mid-transformation.
Who this is for
You'll do well here if you're energized rather than unsettled by holding two different jobs at once, protecting something mature while building something that doesn't exist yet. You lead through trust rather than process, you'd rather stay close to the code than manage from a distance, and you're curious about what engineering leadership actually means now that agents are in the workflow. There's a lot of room to leave your mark here, and that prospect appeals to you.
What we offer
Two teams, two mandates, and genuine influence over how Paligo's next product gets built.
A growing company where the transformation is real work rather than a slide deck.
Close partnership with the CTO, and the autonomy to shape how your teams work.
Competitive benefits, flexible working hours, and a hybrid setup based in Stockholm. In-person collaboration matters to us, especially while the new team is forming.
A culture that takes work seriously and the rest of life seriously too.
Our commitment to inclusion
We believe the best teams are built from diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds. Paligo is an equal-opportunity employer, and we're committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels genuinely welcome. We especially encourage applications from women, people from underrepresented groups in technology, and anyone who took a non-traditional path to get here. If you need any adjustments to the application process, just let us know.
Ready to talk?
If leading the teams behind a platform that enterprises worldwide depend on — while helping build what comes next — sounds like the job you want, we'd like to hear from you.
(The final step of our recruitment process is a mandatory background check, including a financial and criminal check. Any offer of employment is contingent on its successful completion.)
